The 2023 season of Christmas junk food is going to be a good one with all of the already-known products that are out and coming soon. But these Apple Cider Donut cashews from Planters caught me by surprise when I saw them yesterday.
I was strolling through my local Walmart and came upon a center-aisle display of holiday nuts from Planters. It was a very large, pallet-sized display so they must expect big sales. One side of the display had these, and the other had special edition Cinnamon Butter Pecans.
I love cashews in the first place, and they have long been a part of my Christmas season snacking, so it was an easy choice to pick these up. And oh my goodness these things are good!
It’s not just a seasoning blend sprinkled on them. These have been glazed with some kind of mixture and then baked/roasted onto them. They have a crust around the nut. Think of it like a peanut M&M with its candy shell. And the flavor is pretty close to spot on of the advertised apple cider donut. There’s most definitely the flavor notes of the apple cider and the sweetness replicates that of the donut. If you have a sweet tooth, these will definitely satisfy it.
I’ve already eaten half the bag, which isn’t very big to begin with…being just five ounces. I’m going to have to get back to Walmart to pick up a couple of more bags to ensure they last through the Christmas season. After being very impressed with this flavor, I’m going to pick up a couple of bags of the Cinnamon Butter Pecans too.
